1.
Physics and
Applied Physics:
These three year programs offer the students both a
wide general training in physics or applied physics and
a detailed
preparation in domains of recent interest such as physics and
technology of materials or physics and technology of nuclear
reactors. The
knowledge accumulated in the major field of specialization and in
adjacent fields like mathematics, computer science, and material
science offers the graduate a complete education, which allows them to
work as physicists in industry and research
laboratories. The
graduates who also take psychology, pedagogy and physics/chemistry
teaching classes can pursue a teaching career. The strong background
allows the graduates who continue their studies in economics or law to
be employed by consulting or investment firms, or to work in high
technology patenting. The curricula can be found
here for Physics
and here for Applied Physics.
2.
Chemistry:
This three
year program offers the students both a wide
general training in chemistry and a detailed preparation in domains
of recent interest such as inorganic or physical chemistry.
The knowledge accumulated in the major field of specialization and
in adjacent fields like mathematics, computer science, and material
science offers the graduate a complete education, which allows them
to work as physicists and/or chemists in industry and research
laboratories (in the petrochemical, metallurgical, pharmaceutical
industries, in environmental or quality monitoring laboratories).
The graduates who also take psychology, pedagogy and
physics/chemistry teaching classes can pursue a teaching career.
The strong background allows the graduates who continue their
studies in economics or law to be employed by consulting or
investment firms, or to work in high technology patenting
3.
Petroleum technology and petrochemistry
This is a four year program that prepares students to become chemical
engineers. During the first of the two cycles the emphasis is on a
general chemistry preparation but the students also get complementing
knowledge of physics, mathematics, computer science, which is the
basis for further engineering studies. During the second cycle, the
students learn about general chemical engineering as well as
specialized topics in petroleum technology and petrochemistry. The
graduates can work as process engineers in the fields of oil
processing and refining, in petrochemical factories, in transport and
trading of oil products as well as in the corresponding laboratories.
Moreover, the graduates can be employed as chemical engineers in the
various fields of chemical industry (inorganic, organic, of
macromolecules, etc.) and in chemical laboratories. The ones who pass
psychology, pedagogy and methods in chemistry education can pursue
teaching careers. Most of the graduates are employed in their field,
addressing the regional and national needs for highly qualified
labor. Some of them work for foreign companies, through bilateral
agreements with the Romanian counterparts, some examples of such
employers being the oil refining companies in: Ruwais-Abu Dhabi,
Kaduna-Nigeria, Tripoli-Libya, Bandariman-Iran, Oran-Algeria, TPL-China,
Dunkun-Malaysia, Tula-Mexic.
4. Electronics
The Electronics program offers the students, after four years of
studies, a broad preparation in the fundamentals of electronics, with
an emphasis on electronic technologies, electronic components and
devices and telecommunications. The large variety of classes in the
curriculum allows the students to gain knowledge in fields like
electric motors and generators, marine electronics, data
transmissions, industrial processes monitoring equipment, etc. The
graduates can work in various fields, the knowledge and skills gained
during their training in other domains, such as computer science,
mathematics, physics, granting them a high degree of flexibility and
adaptability.
5. Physics of condensed
matter and nanostructured systems
This one year graduate program offers the MS degree in physics, and consists
of classes such as Physics of semiconductors, Special topics of plasma
physics and lasers, Elements of modern theoretical physics, Material science
and Physics of dielectrics. The graduates can choose between an academic
career, if they continue their studies toward the PhD degree, or an
industrial career, in advanced research and development laboratories.
6. Physics,
technology and safety of nuclear reactors
This one year graduate program offers the MS degree in physics, and consists
of classes such as Fundamentals of the Physics of nuclear reactors,
Dosimetry and radioprotection, Legal issues related to nuclear reactors,
Management of nuclear reactors, etc. The graduates can continue their studies toward the PhD degree, or
work in the nuclear power
industry.
7.
Management in the oil and natural gas industry
This
is a one year management and business administration program leading to
a master’s degree. The program is
designed for the chemical engineers working in the oil industry that want to
complement their technical knowledge with management skills in order to be
further promoted in higher managerial positions.
